I am a lifetime New Yorker, born and bred, and have been both a prosecutor and a defense attorney – not from books, movies, academics or ideology, but in real life. In order to lead the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, you have to have a thorough understanding of the issues. You must know and understand both sides. Now more than ever Manhattan needs practical, equitable solutions to move justice forward. Without that knowledge, you cannot be effective and cannot have true reform. Equally important are common sense, logic, grit, and guts. And I have those too! I am the candidate who knows this City top to bottom, inside out, has the experience, and the common sense, practicality, and determination to make the necessary changes. This is why I am running for Manhattan District Attorney.
Smart Solutions, Equal Justice.

Liz on the Issues
Our Criminal Justice system must change so that victims can get justice, so that defendants can get fair shots, and so that everyone gets to feel safe and secure in their hometown, the City of New York. Criminal Justice reform must make sense and benefit all New Yorkers, whether you are a defendant or whether you are a victim, family member, witness, or police officer.
Born and raised in Manhattan with her roots in Stuyvesant town, Elizabeth “Liz” Crotty has enjoyed a full legal career in both criminal law and complex civil litigation. Since founding a law firm with Jeremy Saland, Crotty Saland PC, Liz has represented countless individuals, both those accused of crimes and those who are victims of crimes. While Liz is a zealous advocate who fights aggressively for her clients, she is also well reasoned (intelligent and down-to-earth), approachable, and personable. This balance helps her secure positive dispositions as well as outright dismissals. Liz has handled a variety of cases including grand larceny, fraud, assault, rape, dwi, and weapons possession to name a few. Liz is prepared at every stage of the case – whether that be motion practice, plea negotiations, or trial – she is capable and ethical in achieving success for her clients. It is this experience and character that resulted in her selection as a “Super Lawyer,” an honor given to those attorneys who attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement as a result of independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.
